Being fanatical about music has never been easier than nowadays, but if accessing all kinds of music has never been simpler… why is everything else so complicated? Which is the acceptable minimum kbps for an MP3? Is streaming replacing downloads? Which is the correct outfit to wear for a Depeche Mode concert? Are music festivals’ twitter accounts reliable? Is retro the same as vintage? Spotify, MySpace or Bandcamp? And by the way, who are Mandorla?
Whether you know the answers to these questions or whether you haven’t even understood them, don’t worry, because Listen Now! is not the typical music guidebook. On the contrary, it’s a collection of brief x-rays that will allow you to laugh out loud about everything that strikes a cord within the music world. Written and drawn by Manuel Bartual (author of Sexorama, a series published in Spain by El Jueves and in France by Fluide Glacial), Listen Now! serves as a mirror that reflects the every day miseries that musicians and their fans have to equally endure.
Listen Now! is the english webcomic version of ¡Escucha Esto!, a series that was initially posted in the shape of a blog under the same name on MTV Spain’s website. However, it is currently being published amongst the pages of El Jueves, a weekly Spanish magazine that deals with current affairs in a humorous key.
In this website, with an update rate of two strips per week, you have finally found a space within the net in which to discover that being fanatical about music had never been so much fun.
